Suhas is a Senior Disciple of Guruji Pandita Tripti Mukherjee of Pandit Jasraj Institute of Music and  represents the seventh generation of Mewati Gharana. In addition to Hindustani Classical Music, Suhas likes to sing Marathi Natya Geet and Bhajans.

  • Born and brought up in Pune, India, Suhas attended N. M. V. High-School, Ferguson College and College of Engineering in Pune. Because of his outstanding performance in the Bachelor of Engineering (Electronics and Telecommunications) program, he was awarded a Graduate Fellowship for further studies. He studied towards M. Tech. (Computer Science) at IIT-Bombay and then went to Cornell University in Ithaca, New York in USA where he received the Master of Engineering (Electrical) degree.
  • Although Suhas was always interested in classical music, he never had an opportunity to learn in India. A dream came true when Suhas was accepted as a Shishya by Guruji Pandita Tripti Mukherjee when the Pandit Jasraj Institute of Music opened its doors in New Jersey in September 1995.
  • Suhas has sung in numerous concerts in USA, Canada and India, the most notable being “Three Generations of Mewati Gharana Concert in USA” in June 2008 which featured Bade Guruji Pandit Jasraj ji, Guruji Pandita Tripti Mukherjee and Suhas.  
  • Suhas is a recepient of several Awards from the Pandit Jasraj Institute of Music, including "Mewati - Adya Shree", “Mewati – Pradeept” and “Mewati – Urja”.  The “Mewati – Pradeept” Award given in July 2008 symbolizes a fully lit, shining lamp and marks the beginning of an artistic journey. The "Mewati - Adya Shree" Award given in July 2010 recognizes enlightening the students with knowledge of music and the "Mewati - Urja" Award given in July 2006 acknowledges service to music.
  • Besides Hindustani Classical Music, Suhas likes to sing Marathi Natya Sangeet and Bhajans. He would like to introduce and popularize Hindustani Classical Vocal music through concerts and lecture-demonstrations.
